Cosmetic Treatments – Dermal Fillers, Botox and Skin Rejuvenation

Lichfield Skincare offers a discrete non-surgical cosmetic procedure service with individualised treatments to improve wrinkles and lines, contour the face, and brighten the skin texture. Consultations are with Dr Anne Ward, consultant dermatologist, who can guide you on your treatment choice. Lichfield Skincare only uses medically tested, prescription-only, licensed products by reputable Pharmaceutical Companies.

Botox for Lines and Wrinkles (Botox, Azzalure, Bocouture)
Botox is a protein which is injected in to the muscles under the skin to make them relax. This helps to smooth out wrinkles and lines, as the muscles can no longer scrunch up the skin. Botox is mainly used to treat frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. Lichfield Skincare also treats more specialised areas with Botox – neck bands, dimpled chins, the jawline (Nefertiti neck lift) and the Décolletage. Treatment needs to be repeated every 3 – 4 months, as otherwise the wrinkles return to their previous appearance.

Dermal fillers (Juvéderm, Belotero, Restylane)
A dermal filler is a soft injectable gel that is used to fill out deep lines and wrinkles and to restore volume to the face. Lichfield Skincare only uses dermal fillers made from stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid which are approved for use by the UK Licensing Authority. The gel is similar to the body’s own hyaluronic acid which makes allergic reactions much less likely. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Dermal fillers are long-lasting, but not permanent, and do not affect facial expression. The benefits will last around 9 – 12 months, but this depends on skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and age.

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)
Botox is a very effective treatment for hyperhidrosis affecting the armpits, forehead and groin. Reduction in sweating is seen within 2 weeks and can last 6 – 9 months. At the first visit, underlying medical causes for excessive sweating are ruled out prior to performing a Starch Iodine Test to mark out the areas of excessive sweating. The Botox is then injected in to the skin using a very fine needle. Side effects of Botox are rare, but include bruising at the site of injection, itching and compensatory hyperhidrosis of the palms.

Skin Rejuvenation
Older skin can look dull which open pores, fine crinkles, brown patches of pigmentation and even red scaling patches. Lichfield Skincare offers several treatments to make the skin brighter and more youthful looking. These include Cryotherapy, the Dermaroller (micro-needling) and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT).

Cryotherapy is used to treat patches of flat, brown pigmentation on the face and the back of the hands.

The Dermaroller, or micro-needling, is a natural way to stimulate production of collagen by creating multiple small channels in the skin. As the channels repair, new skin cells are formed and the blood supply to the skin is boosted. This results in brighter, fresher looking skin. The Dermaroller can also help reduce acne scarring.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is approved by NICE to treat sun damaged skin. It treats red, scaling patches and can reduce patchy pigmentation, small blood vessels and fine lines. Treatment is very simple – a specialist cream is applied to the face for 30 minutes then activated by a red light (not laser). Only sun damaged skin cells are destroyed, leaving the healthy tissue untouched, so the skin heals very quickly with excellent cosmetic results. The end result is fresher looking skin, with an improved texture. The benefits can last for 9 – 12 months, depending on the person’s skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and age.
